Frame and Portraiture
Video documenting the process of creating the portraiture, leaves, and the physical frame.
Neo Nouveau Styled acrylic leaf bunches for Tree frame.
The leaves attempt to take 2D elements of art nouveau visual art, and pulls them into the physical world. What makes it even more fascinating to me is that it also forces them back to the 2D through the heavy black outlines on the sides, which makes a hybrid between the physical and printed.
The digital print-ready portraiture illustrated with the physical frame in mind.
The picture combines natural heavy outlines and textured colour-fill reminiscent of Alphonse Mucha's prints, and my own semi-realistic art style.
It was an interesting challenge to learn more about flowing fabric, ruffles, and gemstones.
The final physical wood frame before it would no longer stay together. The type of wood that makes up the main frame is too soft and the branch is at an angle that can not be clamped, which makes it difficult to bond the two together without breaking or splitting.
